Oxford and Cambridge are Britain’s two oldest universities, and they are connected in many ways. Our Oxbridge programme allows students to spend one week in Oxford followed by one week in Cambridge, or vice versa!

Students can learn about these two prestigious cities, explore and compare them, and experience some of the best of British history and academia. Both programmes offer stimulating, communicative-based General English tuition.

Course content

With a strong emphasis on authentic communication, the summer school programme delivers stimulating, relevant and learner-focused English tuition, within the theme of University life and culture. 15 hours of tuition are included in this programme.

Our enthusiastic and dedicated staff, combined with our innovative and fun teaching methods, ensure that students develop and learn at a pace that suits them in a friendly and welcoming educational environment. All of our teachers are native English speakers and hold a CELTA or equivalent teaching qualification.

At Oxford Spires, students will join classes of no more than 15 so that they are given maximum attention and opportunity to participate and enhance their learning. In-class preparation for excursions also takes place to maximise learning outside of the classroom.

Day Trips

Two full day excursions are included in both of the Summer School programmes, and each of the destinations offers a unique cultural and historic experience!

Examples include London, Windsor, Bath, Stratford-upon-Avon. Transport and entrance fees are included, and students are advised to bring small amounts of pocket money should they wish to purchase souvenirs.

Afternoon activities

In Oxford and Cambridge, there are three afternoons per week with planned excursions to the city centre. The first Monday afternoon of a student’s stay will always be a guided walking tour around the city centre.

Other weekly activities include punting on the river, group games, museum visits, university college visits, and more. Entrances will always be included for scheduled visits.

Evening activities

Evening activities are included for Oxford and Cambridge residential programmes every evening. For Oxford homestay programmes, two evening activities are included.

Evening activities take place on or off campus, and include movie nights, quiz nights, discos, ice skating, capture the flag, organised group games, ghost walks, and loads more.

Residential and homestay (Oxford only) accommodation are available for this programme.

Visit the Accommodation Page for more information.

Oxford is available from 30 June to 11 August 2019;

And Cambridge is available from 7 July to 4 August 2019

Students can study for a minimum of 2 weeks and up to 5 weeks, in any combination of weeks in each location. For example, 2 weeks in Oxford and 2 weeks in Cambridge, or 2 weeks in Oxford and 1 week in Cambridge, etc.

Oxbridge Summer @ Oxford and Cambridge is for students aged 13 to 17 years.

We may sometimes accept students who are slightly younger or slightly older than this age range, if they are travelling as part of a school group. They must have an adult chaperone (group leader) and agree to abide by all the terms of the programme.
